Happy Republic Day to all my friends in India and abroad. So yesterday, we celebrated our 66th Republic Day. For all those who don’t know, it was on 26 January 1950, the Constitution of India came into force.
This year, I thought of showing my love for my country in my own special way. So, I decided on wearing a Saree for starters. Since, its something that I haven’t worn on the blog yet, I thought it would be a good change for all my readers as well.
And yes the patriotism doesn’t end right there….the Indian flag tricolour on my eyes symbolises just that! Also, I’ve worn a Maang tikka on my head to add that ethnic touch to the entire look. Keeping the look very simple and bollywood-ish, I’m wearing a plain red saree and a gold blouse with open hair and no accessories at all.
I think the red-gold combination looks fantastic and it makes me wonder if I should wear a Saree more often! 🙂
For eye makeup, I’ve used Inglot Orange and Green along with Sephora shimmery white eyeshadow. One important thing that I always tell my students is that the master key to perfect eye makeup is perfect blending of colours. If you know how to blend it right, half your work is done!
For upper lid, I’ve used a Navy blue Eye pencil to add the colour of the chakra, and for lower lid I’ve used green eye pencil and eyeshadow (both eye pencils by Colorbar). White eye pencil by NYX on the water line to brighten up the eyes.
I finished the look with a lovely dark orange Lipstick (Rouge Buzz by Bourjois) that is smooth, glossy and long lasting. Bourjois has a good collection of lip and eye pencils too so in case you looking for something like that, you now know where to find it.
I feel proud to be born an Indian citizen and it’s the beauty of this country and its traditions that never fail to amaze me.
