Play It Up with Gingham

Hey Guys,

In this post, I’m going to talk about yet another fashion trend that has made a serious comeback thanks to designers like Oscar de la Renta, Michael Kors, Altuzarra and Diane Von Furstenburg. Gingham, basically a plain-weave fabric with plaid or check pattern has been seen not only on the runway but on the streets as well, in the form of skirts, dresses, trousers, tops, matching separates, etc.

The best thing about wearing gingham is that it makes you look chic and can be worn easily in summers too as the fabric is very light-weight.

Herein, I’m going to share with you, how I played with gingham. In the first set of pictures, you can see me wearing it on my feet while in the second one, you’ll find me sporting a gingham skirt!

While few of you might be hesitant about pairing white with white, I absolutely loved doing it and that too on a rainy day. Yes, get your whites out and flaunt them like no one else does.

These gingham slingspadrilles from are my current favourites and top my list when it comes to comfort plus they break the monotony of this outfit so perfectly.

Despite the stereotypes attached with it, gingham is one fabric thats’s here to stay and is worth having in your wardrobe. The safest colours to own gingham in would be blue, black and red.

Four ways to wear it:

  • Pair it with a Pattern: Gingham goes really well with floral, leopard and polka dots. Focus on print size when mixing patterns. If gingham print is small, the other print should be big and vice versa.
  • Pair it with a Bold colour: Choose a bold colour to pair with your gingham and your outfit will definitely stand out.
  • Match it up: Wear matching gingham separates like slim pants and a structured crop top, or a gingham jacket and skirt combination.
  • Go Minimal: Gingham is sexy in itself; with minimal accessories you can rock the look.
