Reviving 80s Fashion

Holla,

How are you all?

Lately I’ve been obsessed with all things vintage, particularly the 80s, be it shoulder pads or boxy tops, oversized jackets or sequins, neon colours or power suits. Even vintage hair has made it to the top of my favourites list. So today in this post, I am going to revisit the past fashion fads with the help of today’s designer looks.

From victory rolls and lacy gloves to the gold wrap top and baggy PVC trousers, this outfit may have a retro aesthetic, but it has been modernised for the contemporary woman. In a way, it introduces a touch of androgyny for those who like to mix it up a bit.

80s was a lot about metallics and oversized clothing. There was polyester, neons, patterns, florals, animal prints, frills, chunky belts and spandex. While some trends were as wacky as they may sound, some were completely amazing and still make me want them to come back!

The spirit of the ’80s still continues via the runway’s adoption of the more literal aesthetic codes as well as the decade’s DIY culture. This is a season where YOU make the rules. Mix & match is the ‘mantra’. Put together your favourite pieces and flaunt that outfit like no one else does. Take inspiration from one of the most sartorially diverse eras in history. The time when you could rock leopard print with neon and get a standing ovation when entering a room!

I’ve created this look by mixing vintage, high street and designer labels, combined with hair and makeup by me. I encourage you all to go ahead and experiment—-Be creative in your outfits. πŸ™‚
