Hey you lovely people!
Maxi dresses, as we all know, are not only one of the most flattering, comfortable and forgiving items of clothing to wear, but they’re also surprisingly versatile. They’re easy to add layers over as well as hide layers under, making them the perfect transitional pieces of clothing.
So recently when I picked up this black Maxi dress from ZARA, I realised that I could actually wear it to a lot of occasions. From dressed up fancy to boho chic, work appropriate to a playful weekend ensemble, this basic outfit could be styled in numerous ways and thus, I decided to create these 4 looks and share them with you all.
1) The College Look
This casual ensemble is definitely my favourite. Whether you are going to college or simply hanging out with friends, this outfit can never let you down.
Just throw a denim/bomber jacket over your maxi dress and complete the look with a cute bag and accessories. You can even knot the bottom of your dress for a street-chic appeal.

2) Holiday Look
A maxi dress is the perfect choice when we talk of holidays and beach destinations. Its breezy silhouette brings an ethereal vibe which is beautiful for the summer months.
Dress up your maxi with minimal accessories and a floppy hat/fedora. You can pair it with flip flops, ankle-tie flats or leather strap sandals.

3) Dinner Date Look
Whether its a black-tie event or a dinner date, just give your look a lift (literally) with heels and some statement accessories. Its amazing how a simple Maxi dress can be transitioned into a glamorous night outfit with minor additions.

4) Work Look
Wearing a maxi dress to work can be a bit tricky. The key is to select options that’ll work well as a canvas for various accessories to add polished, professional elements to the look.
For instance, add a longline blazer and a structured bag with minimal jewellery and nude pumps for a modern spin, like in the pictures below.

There’s a reason why maxi dresses are a favourite summer staple—they’re universally befitting, cool (in more ways than one!) and ridiculously comfortable. I’d say that’s winning in the most fashionable sense. 🙂
